Social Connections are incredibly important to our overall health. There are many different types of social connections from our families and friends to our community and connection to the digital world. Strengthening social interactions has shown improved health in mental and physical well-being.
Benefits of healthy social connections:
Disease prevention
Longevity
Improved cognitive function
Sense of belonging
Fewer physical health problems
Throughout this blog I will continue to talk about concrete steps that can improve social connectedness but here is a something to consider:
Volunteer -Volunteering is valuable because it allows us to share all of our ideas, talents, and skills with others. The role of volunteering with the younger generation provides a mentorship that can invaluable to a younger person. But, the fact is volunteering is linked to increased physical activity, higher quality of life, and improves social connections. I should add that you could actually find it enjoyable and satisfying.
